I am having trouble with my console command line login on one of our
Sun Fire boxes. We are running Solaris 9. When I select "Command
Line Login" from the "Options" drop down box on this machine or if I
stop dtlogin the monitor gives me an "Invalid PC Mode" error. The
other Sun Fire box is connected to the same monitor, through a Avocent
AutoView 424 switch box. I have no trouble going to the command line
login on that machine. I have tried different ports on the switch
box. I have tried a direct cable from the computer to the display.
The monitor we are using is a DELL flat panel. I can get to the
command line login if I connect our old Sun CRT monitor but this is
not an option for normal operations. It appears that the machine I am
having trouble with is programmed for an resolution and/or refresh
rate that the monitor can not handle. Is the command line resolution
setting different from the setting used for the graphical login? If
so, how do I find out what the setting is and change it?
Thanks in advance.
