Thank you very much for your quick and complete reply.

I recreated the flar archive of the Solaris 8 04/01 using the
flarcreate script taken from a Solaris 9 09/02. I used
"setup-install-server" from a Solaris 9 09/02 CD, and I used it to
"serve" the Solaris 8 04/01 flash archive to the clients; It all
worked just fine.

I know that you would not have any reason to use
"setup-install-server" from a Solaris version different from the
Solaris version within the flash archive served to the clients, but
this was the quickest option for me (I had no CDs for a Solaris 8
02/02). Then only problem I had was with the locale definition which I
modified in /etc/default/init

Just one more question: is there any option within the Solaris 8 (or 9
09/02) version of flarcreate that can be used to include in the
archive a whole directory tree ? (useful for layered Flash archives) I
saw that with -f <flist> only the nodes explicitely specified in
<flist> are included in the archive (so if I write the name of a
directory the subdirectories and files are not included). It is true
that I could use "find / dir > flist" and than use flist with the -f.

Thank you again,
Vlad Grama.
