Thank you both, for the replys, ... that otherwise wouldve been an atrocious
first impression of the Unix/opensource world, which is supposed to be so
professional. I appreciate your responses, and am glad to hear that that was
NOT representative. :)
Yes, you are correct, i do not have a unix system available to me at all
right now. I am just starting my forrays outside of Windows and really have
nothing else available.... except maybe some old MS-DOS 5.something disks,
somewhere, maybe. But, im looking to move forward, not backward!.
Anyway, I see on the Disc 1 of 2 there is a file called .BOOTIMAGE. The only
problem is the actual file is 1.47+ MB, so its just a smidge to big to fit
on a floppy. The file is 1.47xxxxx MB, whereas the largest floppy i could
find is 1.457xxxxxx MB. I downloaded a native Win32 port of gnu dd and tried
to copy it over that way, but it also read the sizes so and runs out of
space.
Is this the file i need? Or is there another one? I had kind of thought the
CD's were bootable though, like Eric said in his post.
Also, i made a new logical partition on my hd to install this on when i get
it working. Does that work? or do i need to format that partition somehow,
or shoulf the installation format it?
Thanks in advance again,
- Aaron.
