The MU patches your older version to bring it up to the spec of the latest
release, generally without adding any new features. Latest one I applied
was MU7 for Solaris 8 x86 which is over 140MB in zipped form and has about
344 patches in it.

Not the same. Do the MU, then apply the latest patch cluster.
