It's a shame you can't get these sort of things from Sun as free PDF
downloads - although I've not no idea if these are produced by Sun or
by third parties. I don't intend taking any Solaris exams, so have not
looked at who produces these guides.

IBM have a huge number of so-called "redbooks"

http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/

which you can download as a freebie. One I downloaded is the "IBM
Certification Study Guide - pSeries AIX System Administration"

http://publib-b.boulder.ibm.com/Redbooks.nsf/9445fa5b416f6e32852569ae006bb65f/62a9e0811763688a85256a960072e6b5?OpenDocument

which is designed for a specific IBM system admin exam. The book does
state you can't pass the exam with just the book, as you need
practical experience too.

You can also buy a hard copy of these 'redbooks' if you want, so I
could if so inclined part with my $$$'s and get a hardcopy.

Not that I intend taking any exams on AIX either, but these redbooks
were suggested by someone as a way to learn AIX. These are very much
geared to a specific course run by IBM, but naturally if they are
geared to an AIX system admin exam, they are useful to learn AIX
system admin.

This information might be useful to anyone learning AIX in addition to
Solaris. As far as I'm aware, IBM are the only company to have such
material for free download. If anyone is aware of similar for IRIX,
HP-UX or tru64, let me know, although I have parted with some money
and bought books on tru64 and HP-UX - not that I've read an awful lot
of either!
