I would try doing a plain "boot net -s" from the OBP to see that the
system will complete a bootup off of the net without hanging.

If it gets you to a plain root prompt then you are close.

The next step would be to do a "boot net - install w" and snoop
the client MAC address from the server. You should be able to
see what's last accessed at the time of the hang.
