okay, i thought my floppy was hosed, i re-made it, and this time
the contents seemed to be all there. i tried the boot.
my old floppy was messed up, but i still get to the same situation.

i did do a snoop between the two machines. the
client machine does get access to the files that have been shared
via nfs. i see many "Success" lines in the snoop output.
i did:
grep -i fail snoopout
and that returns 0 lines. i get about 2580 packets, and it goes
completely quiet.

if nobody's got any other ideas, i'm rapidly reaching the point
where i've got to give up and move to other things.

thanks for the tips.... if nothing else, maybe this boot floppy
will work on another machine. i may have time to try a "local"
jumpstart--put the rules.ok and profile on the floppy, and do
it that way.... hmmmmm, i suppose if that works, it means
my problem is purely networking.... or at least the network-based
jumpstart.
