I'm not sure how that could possibly work, 3 X 1250 is $3750, taking
it past $11k. Are you adding in a discount?

Anyway, yes, you're right, the XVR-500 configuration has 2GB, so you
can take it to 8GB (and that works on Sun store for me, whereas the
large configuration didn't).

Since Sun charges you extra for a keyboard, it comes to $11,390 with
standard warranty. I was pretty close. Quite a bit more than the Apple.

I don't care about total system bandwidth here, I was talking about
individual card bandwidth - nevertheless the aggregate bandwidth
sounds about the same!

133x64 + 100x64 vs.
4*66*64

divid both lines by 64, you get 233 vs. 264 - something like 15%
better for the Sun, whereas peak bandwidth can be as much as 100%
better on the Apple. For example, driving one large screen with a game
... err, I mean pro-cad application :)

I wrote the above, and then actually checked your claim, actually the
G5 has up to 2X100*64, 1*133*64, but it also has an 8X AGP Pro slot as
well. So actually the G5 is _comfortably_ higher total system PCI
bandwidth (AGP is a form of PCI).

Ah, well that's very difficult to buy right now!
