All of it. All the hard drives too- though I know Sun doesn't make
them.

Sure- use ecc by all means. But its not going to help you when the
rest of the box is crap.

These were technical conversations w/ Dell reps for a > $250,000
purchase of Dell hardware for a server room. The RAID hardware failed
after a year or so, the tape library is dead, and NT had to be
reinstalled several times. Crapola. Their support is so bad its in
many cases easier to leave the dead junk in place than to try and get
them to fix it. When the fiber channel rig died a month or 2 ago, it
required 3 days of downtime before Dell got someone out to work on
it.

Then why are you telling me I should be getting rid of 10 year old
hardware?

I'll extend the point to cover all the x86 hardware I have and/or
maintain.

And what is that proving? OEM U1 fans are known to suck. The fans in
my Ultra 2 are still going fine- its pretty much the same age as my 2
U1's.
