That's right. Those queues probably were configured as remote printer
queues. Your machine was told it is a print client for those printers,
not a print server, so print server options like lpadmin -A aren't
appropriate.

Sounds like you have those queues configured wrong if the Solaris machine
is the print server. Are these printers attached to the network, or are
they attached to the parallel port of a Windows or Unix computer?
