Hello everyone,

I've installed Apache 2.0 using pkg-get from blastwave.org and I can't
get it to start. I'm new to Apache and I want to use it to test PHP
scripts, and this problem has really left me puzzled. I've followed all
the documentation I can find at http://www.apache.org and also the
advice at http://users.binary.net/dturley/cgi_testing.html, and as far
as I can see the httpd.conf file contains the correct configuration.
When I try to start Apache I cd to the directory /opt/csw/apache2/sbin
and type "./apachectl -k start". The command prompt quickly returns, as
the documentation leads me to expect, but Apache isn't running. Trying
to access http://localhost/ with Netscape doesn't work and I've also
tried the commands "ps -e | grep apache" and "ps -e | grep httpd", which
don't return anything. Running "./apachectl -k stop" gives the error
message "httpd (pid 616?) not running". Can anyone suggest a likely
cause for this problem?

Many thanks,

Chris Tidy
