I installed the Solaris San Foundation suite (SAN 4.4 and StorEdge SAN
4.4.1)
and rebooted my V880. After it came up, I inserted a CD to install
some more software. It never mounted, even though vold had been
working fine up until this point. I could see the vold process
running but /cdrom was empty. I ran a volcheck and got:
# volcheck -v
media was found
but nothing is mounted:
# ls -l
total 0
#
I tried to eject it:
# eject cdrom
cdrom: No such file or directory
#
I then turned off vold and tried to mount it manaully:
ount /dev/dsk/c0t6d0s2 /cdrom
/dev/dsk/c0t6d0s2: bad magic number
cfgadm shows me the cd drive:
cfgadm -al
Ap_Id Type Receptacle Occupant
Condition
c0 scsi-bus connected configured
unknown
c0::dsk/c0t6d0 CD-ROM connected configured
unknown
..
(it looks the same as identical systems with working CD drives)
I dropped to an ok prompt, and did a probe-scsi-all and I still see
the CD device plain as day.
Any ideas why SFS broke my cdrom? I was using it a lot before I
installed the SFS packages since I am in the middle of building this
system.
Any info helpful,
