I wonder how much of the reputation of poor IDE performance on the
Ultra 5/10 was due to the s-l-o-w hard drive that was originally
shipped with them? The experience I've had with 7200 rpm drives in my
Ultra 10 has been good - the box is rarely limited by disk
performance.
As you said, one big downside for the 5/10 is that memory is *not*
cheap. One upside is that they use type 5C keyboards.
