I am configuring a B10n Load Balancer from Sun, to distribute web
traffic across several servers. Typical web traffic is distributed
between two blade servers (B100s). We are also running Oracle reports
from a server external to the B1600 blade chassis. These reports are
directed to this external server through the use of a rule in the load
balancer. The load balancer does in fact distribute the regular web
traffic requests among the two blades, and if a reports URL is
requested directly from a browser session, the B10n recognizes the
trigger in the URL and sends the request to the Oracle reports server.
So, all is good with regard to basic functionality.
However, if I initiate a regular http session, the load balancer
creates a persistent session on one of the two webserver blades and
maintains that session even if I choose a link with the reports
trigger in the URL. That is, once a session is initiated, the load
balancer ignores the rule that should redirect the request to the
reports server. This is confirmed by the webserver error logs which
indicate that the webserver is trying to find the requested resource
on the webserver.
Has anyone had experience playing with the new B1600 chassis, the
blade servers and most importantly, the B10n load balancer blade? If
so, any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
Joe
