In bygone days, there were products that would talk to DECnet from
several different platforms. With the decline and fall of DEC, ditto
Compaq, and HP hurrying along the same path (Itanic anyone?) products
that run on VMS or that speak DEC protocols are in short supply.

And, after you've spent big bucks what do you do with it when the VAX
goes out the door?

Is it possible for you to use TCP/IP? The Carnegie-Mellon package
(CMUTEK) was freeware and somebody might still have a copy lying around.

Sun did/does have DECNet Internetworking (DNI) but the only mentions
I've seen are in the context of an X-windows transport. which is
probably not the same thing as "DECnet".

Google for DECnet and Solaris and follow the leads you will find. If
they turn out to be ancient history, don't say you weren't warned.
