PC is single 2.8MHZ linux box with IDE and regular disks - nothing special.
But don't think there is problem in processing power - rather in IO
throughput. I tested Oracle and encoutered problem during database import
which is - of course - very heavy when it comes to IO. I have 50% IO wait
on V880 and 70-80% processor idle. This is very strange - since Fibre
Channel should be *much* more faster (?) vs. IDE. Additionaly I have all
data (indexes, data, rollabck segments etc.) on one disk o my PC. On
Solaris I used OFA and indexes, datafiles, redologs are on different disks.
As far as I can tell - there is problem with IO - since my oracle does
nothing but copy data from dump to database and creates simple indexes
(regular not computional). This all is very strange. I suspect that I did
some mistake when configuring Solaris.
