Yup. Even installing Linux (Fedora Core 1 and 2) left me
with such a feeling of it (them) being an icky puppy, that I
could go no further.

Top choice! Solaris 10 *will* lead the way.

Well done on doing a professional job - we all aspire to
achieving that. You should get a good contract position back
there in 6 months orso, planning and undertaking the Linux
-> Solaris migration program ;-)
