This is not likely to be related, but I have a Dell Poweredge server
running Solaris 9 for x86, that when boots up list an erorr message
like "sysctrl: socket open" or sum such nonsense. This machine will not
go on the network until I manually issue an ifconfig and "route add
default ..." commands.

Since this machine is rebooted somethink like every 200 days or so I've
never got round to having enough time to figure out why, but suspect it
has something to do with the non-standart Intel Gigabye ethernet card
used.

Not that this helps much ...
