Using scp? And while it may be "pretty slow" it is *twice* as fast as
what you reported.

What is the output of 'psrinfo -v' on that server?
$ psrinfo -v

The sparcv9 processor operates at 360 MHz,
and has a sparcv9 floating point processor.
