I have a LAMP server that sat at a constant load of >10 for the better
part of 10 months (eventually got a more powerful box to replace it) not
one reboot, and it's performance was little affected by the load.
Sometimes ssh logins took a few seconds to initiate, that was about it.
This was on a dual CPU (non-hyperthreaded) IIRC, 400MHZ box, with a gig
of ram, the new one, is a lot faster, with more ram, and a faster HD
setup.

I second Rapskat's point, if you are having to reboot daily on those
boxes, look deeper, something is wrong somewhere, that's not the norm.
No matter what the load.

I did have a small server that had stability problems, finally tracked
it down to a faulty mem slot, pulled the ram out, and it ran better :)
Wound up replacing the mobo eventually. After it got to the point that a
light smack on the side of the box, would reboot the system. :)
