I was installing Solaris 9 this morning, and after the 2nd CD (I did not
install the language CD) the host rebooted, but it went into single user
mode:
"
Configuring /dev and /devices
Configuring the /dev directory (compatibility devices)
mount: /dev/dsk/c2t1d0s6 is already mounted, /var is busy,
or the allowable number of mount points has been exceeded
mount: mount-point /var/run does not exist.
INIT: Cannot create /var/adm/utmpx
INIT: failed write of utmpx entry:" "
INIT: failed write of utmpx entry:" "
INIT: SINGLE USER MODE
Type control-d to proceed with normal startup,
(or give root password for system maintenance):
"
My colleague told me that he has seen this happen sometimes during Jumpstart
installations of Solaris 9. Apparently, after a further reboot the problem
clears itself with no consequence. Still, did anyone else here see this
happen? What is the reason?
cheers
