It depends on what you're planning to do; all will run there.

If you're planning to build software to ship to others as binaries,
then Solaris 8 is a good choice, as we guarantee forward compatibility
(being able to run old binaries on new systems) as long as you stick
to the ABI/DDI.

If you're looking to have a system with all the latest features,
highest performance, and the longest possible support tail, then
Solaris 10 is a better choice.
