What harm can it do?
Do you ever write shell scripts? They are apps.
That's not to say you should suddenly rewrite all your
shell scripts in java, but it will be another tool in
your toolbox, which you wouldn't have otherwise had.
After the course, if you think it was useful, you
should aim to write a few java apps immediately, as
this really helps cement the knowledge into long term
memory. Otherwise you will forget very quickly and
the benefit of the course will be lost after a few
weeks.
