At the very least, you need a SCSI adapter built around a chipset that
Sun supports. By which I mean that it might be possible to get the
same stuff that Sun uses (most probably LSI Logic) from other sources.

There are tons of different SCSI adapters for which the drivers will
be very different. No such thing as a generic SCSI driver. The
"SCSI low-level drivers" section of the Linux kernel configuration
is educational reading - you will see that there are Very Many
different types of SCSI adapter.
