Yes, I know about that long patch pipeline - and I also *suspected*
that such a patch was in the pipeline (since the same problem was found
and fixed for Solaris 9) - but I didn't *know* so therefore I tried to
open a support call the "right" way thru the official channels (since
we do have a support contract for Solaris). But alas, no such luck...
And stupid me mentioned the _version number_ of the Matlab installation I
tested with (6.5.1) which officially hasn't been ceritfied for Solaris 10
by Mathworks so Sun Support told me to bugger off more or less. Ah well.
I also had 7.0 installed but it wasn't the default, it also coredumps
by the way. I just installed the official 7.1sp3 now just for completeness:

Segmentation fault (core dumped)
Now contemplating if I should even bother to reply to the support folks
last mail regarding that bug or not, or if I should do something more
productive...
