You can do remote restores. One way is to boot from the install CD
and answer all of the questions about netwroking and such. When you
get to the point where it is starting to do the install, abort the
install and open a terminal window. You now have a networked computer
that can access a remote tape drive. The CD system has ufsrestore on
it. If you need to use star and have it on some other system, you could
copy it over after you have formatted the new disk and created and mounted
a file system.
