GlobalView is a operating environment from Xerox. It's a
decendent from the ViewPoint which in turn is a decendent
of the original Xerox Star, the first graphical operation
environment. GlobalView could be described as the Xerox
Star GUI plus a virtual machine running the Xerox Star OS,
which is probably what you mean by "then something on top
of that, then GlobalView on top of that." Apparently there
have been ports of GlobalView to Windows, SunOS and RS6k.
Too bad Xerox closed down PARC, those guys were really
way ahead of everyone else ;-)
