About a week ago, I purchased "Sun Certified System Administrator for
Solaris 10: Study Guide
(Exams CX-310-200 & CX-310-202)" by Paul Sanghera and feel it is worth
the $50 Borders charged me.
I find it clearly written and focused on the objective of enabling a
UNIX System Administrator to prepare for the Solaris 10 exams.
On the other hand, I would not recommend it as the best route to take
for someone who would like to gain practical knowledge of Solaris 10
administration. Features new to Solaris 10, such as container concepts
and zonesj in particular, are treated rather superficially and without
much depth beyond what is necessary for the exam -- which, after all,
is the stated purpose.
The book also suffers from mediocre editing and proof reading. I
suspect that at least one of the questions in the first practice
examination has the wrong answer.
This is a good topic, Dave and I am looking forward to reading other
reviews of the books you have identified.
