The status was okay...I wanted to unmirror the root filesystem,so I
followed as below.
#metadetach d5 d3
d5: submirror d3 is detached
So at this point, your root filesystem is mounted from 'd5' which has
only a single component 'd4'.
#metaroot /dev/dsk/c3t0d0s0
the changes were made to the /etc/vfstab and /etc/system.
But the /etc/vfstab and /etc/system changes were made on 'd4' which is
c3t1d0s0. It looks like you're trying to boot from the detached slice
which does not have those changes. You should reroot from one of the
*active* sides of the mirror.
however when i did a reboot,i got the following error....
Rebooting with command: boot
Boot device: disk0 File and args:
SunOS Release 5.8 Version Generic_108528-15 64-bit

That's an interesting message. I wouldn't expect that. In single-user
can you inspect your /etc/vfstab and /etc/system and see if it looks
reasonable for a non-SVM root disk?
