Help! Need to migrate hardware from sun4u to Ultra-E250 on existing installation

Because of hardware failure (power supply dies after 9 years!) I have
to immediately replace the server hardware.
Fortunately I was able to get an older E250 which is in very good
condition.
I plan to migrate all relevant applications to a new server (actually I
already started to do this, the old Ultra1 died some weeks too early),
but for the moment I want to reactivate the old installation as is (or
as much as possible).
Is there any way to "upgrade" the kernel/platform directories so that
the installation will be able to start? I already managed to install
the boot block for the E250 on the old boot disk and the E250 starts
booting the kernel. Kernel headline appears but after a few seconds
there is a very short displayed error message about a panic or
something and then it reboots.
Please help, it's urgent.
OS is Solaris 5.8.
Currently I'm backing up all files from the old machine to another
server for saftey reasons.
But this is not what I really want.
Ronald
