Hello, everyone.
We have an old Tatung CompStation U Series with UltraSparc 296 MHz.
It won't boot up anymore.
We powered it down and back up. It's just hanging at the boot prompt
saying : Boot device : disk file and args.
I think it is running Sun OS 2.5.x
Can someone please give me a hint?
Thanks a lot.
My guess would be that it's waiting for the boot disk to become ready.
Which makes me think that the bearing is sticky, and the drive just won't
spin up anymore.
My general experience is that electronic problems on SCSI drives lead to
errors pretty quickly in the boot process. Drives that just can't quite
spin up usually seem to be the culprit when booting hangs like that.
