Me again (feel like talking to myself),
I still have a problem with a certain category of network printers. They are hp printer, but I use a d-link network print server connected to the parallel port of the printer. I configured them using hppi from the hpnpl unix printing package, because that was an easy way to setup. I configure for generic printer because the print server is not hp. It used to work, but now it does not anymore after patching with the recommended cluster/sol 9. In fact root can print and not users.
I have found that hppi create a device /dev/<printer>, but the caracter file is writable by everybody (owned by root:root). I changed it to lp:lp to no success.
Ideas why root could print and not the users ? Is there something that changed with setuid and lp in the last rec cluster ?
thanks
François
