installing Solaris 10 question?

Hello there, I have tried to install Solaris 10 twice already, wit two
diffrent set of disks. The first set was burned by a friend at a high
speed (48x), it didn't work for me. Then I tried a second set, burned at
a lower speed (24x), still didn't work.
What happens, is that, i issue the command "boot cdrom", starts reading
the disk from the CDROM, and after abou a minute, displays a whole bunch
of hexadecimal characters, and then reboots from the hard drive.
So what I have done, is I downloaded all four "*.zip" files for Solaris
10, from the Sun website, now I want to expand the files, then burn them
on my burner, and try to install Solaris 10, that way.
Where I am lost, is how to expand the files on those four "*.zip"?, and
then what command to issue to burn the disks?
I have done some searching, on the net, and I think to expand the files I
can do the following: tar xvf "filename.tar"
Is this correct?
Thanks.
