Solaris 9 sendmail problem

At the present, I am successfully using sendmail on a Solaris 7 machine
to send mail from our local network to the outside world. At the
moment I am trying to configure a Solaris 9 machine to replace it.
I built sendmail.cf using the same options to main.mc as I did for the
Solaris 7 version. But I can't seem to get mail to go outside the local
network. Using the command /usr/lib/sendmail -C /etc/mail/sendmail.cf
-v user@domain < /dev/null on the Solaris 7 machine reveals that the MX
record for domain is found, while it does not appear to be found on the
Solaris 9 machine. How could this happen? It doesn't seem to be a DNS
isuue; using nslookup with querytype=MX, the Solaris 9 machine finds
the correct host. Any suggestions as to further diagnostic procedures?
