teething probs with Sun Ultra 10 & Solaris 10

Guys
Somehow I succumbed to the temptation and bought an Ultra 10 (instead
of a HP Visualize B2000).
I have heard that the ATI onboard VGA is pathetically slow, when
combined with Solaris 10 and JDS.
1. How much better/responsive will the experience be if I buy a creator
3D card?
2. I also have a PC running Solaris 10. And JDS feels clunky, even
when compared to running FreeBSD/Debian GNOME. {AthlonXP 2400+, 512
MB}. So my question is can I have a trimmed down install of Solaris 10
without JDS? Perhaps only CDE, and may be WindowMaker?
3. I believe KDE comes on the companion CD-ROM. In the x86 version, KDE
produces no sound due to some issues with arts. Is it the same on SPARC
version? Do we get sound?
Thanks...
.
