When I updated my SOL10 machine with the latest patches. I noticed that
postfix is no longer running but my SMTP agent is that piece of junk:
SENDMAIL!!
Sendmail is not a piece of junk, certainly not the version shipped
with Solaris.
It does not get reenabled if you update S10.
Did you perhaps edit the script which started sendmail and replaced
it with postfix or did you replace the sendmail binary with postfix?

svcadm disable smtp:sendmail
And then properly configure postfix so it is installed along side
sendmail; or "pkgrm" all the sendmail packages and install postfix
to your liking.
If you make any changes to the system to files not marked "e" or "v"
in /var/sadm/install/contents, patches and upgrades can and will
override them, no questions asked.
