Hi Martin,
Thanks a lot for your prompt and helpful reply.
It seems I was too hasty in posting my question to the group. The
printer was working fine. It was out of paper and I did not notice
that!
Thanks and regards,
Ashish

I am not a unix admin, but need to setup a network printer on solaris 10.
Judging from the name of your printer, it's an HP printer with a JetDirect
card for network support.
In that case I'd recommend to download and install HP's JD printer
installer software and use that to setup the printer. While it looks
a little bit anachronistic and doesn't officially support Solaris>9,
it has always worked fine for me. Search for "jd printer installer"
on HP's "Support & Drivers" page.
One advantage is that it supports special features of the HP printers,
like selecting output bins and duplex printing.
