Cannot Send Email on my Solaris 9 Machine

I have my Solaris 9 setup.

I tried to send email with /usr/ucb/mail. However, the mail cannot be
sent out. I cannot find anything in the messages log. I notice
whenever I sent an email, there will be 2 (1 empty file, 1 data file)
new files generated in /var/spool/clientmqueue directory. My
clientmqueue directory has the following permission.

[ax-wp01/var/spool/clientmqueue]# ls -ldg .
drwxrwx--- 2 smmsp smmsp 512 Jan 30 18:48 .

more background information:

Smarthost is configured in the sendmail.cf.

mailhost is also specified in the /etc/hosts

Port 25 is opened between the Solaris 9 to the mail server.

I am also suspecting if the mail program is broken. I would like to
also try to install the mail from the Solaris 9 CD. What is the
package(s) name for the mail?
