Malcom,
this is what I did:
cd /usr/local/samba/lib
root@mnisdb1:# vi smb.conf
That is editing the samba configuration file which belongs to a samba
package that has obviously already been installed on your system.
saved the file and then
cd samba-3.0.23d
cd source
./configure --with-ssl
../configure is only needed if you want to build an install samba from
the sources!!!
Then logged in the server thru webwin and clicked on servers > Samba
Windows File Sharing
The Samba server executable /opt/samba/bin/smbd was not found. Either
Samba is not installed on your system or your module configuration is
incorrect.
clicked on module configuration
then there is all the configuration. But i do not have samba in /opt.
Can you please guide me. Thanks
Forget webmin and SWAT.
"find /usr/local -name smbd" should reveal the location your smbd
resides in.
Read the corresponding manual pages and create yourself an init script
that starts and/or stops smbd and nmbd by calling them with
corresponding options and arguments that fit your needs.
Regards,
Christian
