hi, i have an x2100 server in a datacenter and for some reason when i
reset the power on it will not reboot. i need to hit the reset button
on the front of the machine, incovenient since i'm not local to the
machine.
i had a look at the startup screen but didn't see anything in the bios
for enabling this, is this true or am i missing something?
it's under the northbridge config (or maybe southbridge)
After reset, press F2 -> Power Management Setup -> PowerOn After Pwr-
Fail -> On.
i tried hitting F2 but the machine didn't respond to that. As the
machine is coming up I see message "Type Ctl S for setup" . When I hit
Ctrl S it brings me to the MBE boot options window but there's nothing
that refers to power management on the screen.
I also tried typing F1 thru F9 while the machine was coming up but no
reponse.. am i missing something here?
Sounds like it's just a matter of timing. What works for me is
pressing F2 after the full-screen Sun logo appears. Or, if you have
the logo turned off, after the Phoenix BIOS (including "Press F2 for
SETUP" line) appears. You may need to press more than once, be
assertive and tap it until you get the BIOS setup screen.
thx!
