Hi,
My solaris servers (solaris 9 crashes , losing a full users data disk)
I got a new one , but trying to reciver all the data from my legato server (solaris 9 ) i can go only to 2 months . I need a full year!
Seems like Legato has clened the index datatbase . All my tapes are in
and i get the message " Nothing in index at that time !"
Is there a way to " load old indexes" ?
Can someone help me . This is very very urgent . It's a production system,
Franck
It sounds as if it's too late! If you didn't make a full backup of the file system recently, it really is too late.
Your backup plan MUST ensure that everything you may need is backed up and that the tapes will be retained at least until replaced with a fresh backup! This is the second time in the last few weeks that someone has reported being screwed by the absence of a Legato index file. I would not rely on a product that does not write to tape EVERYTHING needed to restore a file system. When I ship a backup tape off site, I expect to have sent everything necessary to restore that file system even if I have to do the restore in a disaster recovery hot site. If you can't do the restore without an intact Legato server, your backup, IMHO, is worthless!
