Re: Solaris Server Performance Tool

We just purchased a new server (v445) and it just seems really slow after installing storage foundation 5.0. Not that I tested it much before installing the SF... but it just seems to crawl when doing simple tasks like uncompressing or deleting files.
Also, we are thinking of moving to some different architecture and would like to benchmark our current server hardware (say using ultrasparc III cpus) with the new Ultrasparc T1 and T2 CPU's.
I'd like to do this without installing the same applications on both, if possible.
The standard perftools like iostat are so manual.

Is anyone aware of any sun tools (not iostat, prstat etc) that are similiar to the windows world that can benchmark the performance of a sun server?
There are so many for windows, which run through all the same load routines and make things relatively easy to compare "basic" performance.
Thanks!

what do you want to test? The best tool for performance comparisons is always your own application. Everything else is just guessing and looking into a crystal ball...
