Sorry to have to ask stupid questions... I have experience administering
Windows servers but not Unix...
I am trying to set up a two machine network in a lab environment (no
internet), with Solaris
10 running on a brand new Sunfire 2100, connected via a hub to a Windows XP
machine. The install of Solaris seemed to go fine. I set the server's IP
address
to 192.168.0.1, and the XP box to 192.168.0.10. So far I am just trying to
test out
basic connectivity, trying to ping Solaris from XP, but getting nothing.
Inetd seems
to be running on Solaris. The ifconfig utility shows hme0 as UP. I am
getting green
Do you have extra network cards installed in this machine? If the machine
is an x2100 it has gigabit cards, not hme stuff.
