Ctrl-c, Ctrl-v is very common in Writer/Word and they breake your left
little finger exactly as much as in Emacs with todays keyboard.

The most annoying thing about the broken PC keyboard layout is that
IBM actually got it right originally. IIRC, it was only with the
PS2 that they decided to fsck things up.

Please give me a laptop with and ordinary US UNIX layout (and a
numeric keypad and the Sun keys to the left).

Hear, hear. Although I only run Solaris on my laptop, so I just
re-map the Caps Lock key to be Control (just like it's supposed
to be) so this is a non-issue for me.
