When I go to sun's website to download solaris 10, it will lead to

solaris 10, where do you download the solaris 10?
Why are you wanting solaris 10 if Solaris Express b97 or later is required
for support of your NIC?
the computer has no internet connection to outside world. that might be
the reason.
Well, that is a very good reason for your package installation to fail!
not sure if there is a way to download all packages manually to install?
That makes no sense. If the OpenSolaris snv_97 which you have already
installed supports your NIC and you have an Internet connection - proven
by your ability to post here - then why can you not access the Internet
from OpenSolaris?
BTW you are running as root, are you not? How much free space is
available on your hard drive?
yes, 20GB free.
OpenSolaris has a bug related to image-update if your free space is
less than that already used.
Solaris expresss cannot be installed via vmware. It stuck in the middle.
think that it might be the problem of vmware.
Where did this vmware nonsense come from? If you were running OpenSolaris
as a vmware guest host you should have said so in the first place and I
would have ignored you.
