I have a Sunfire V240 with a serial console connected to a Cyclades
terminal server. We have this exact setup on nearly 500 servers but
this one acts strangely.
The cyclades port is set to 9600 baud, and it connects to the system
controller just fine. If I jump to the console port, I get the login
banner, and I can proceed to enter my user id and password. Once the
password is entered, the console displays some random high order bit
characters and the server hangs.
Someone suggested we need to change the baud rate on the console
port. I'm not quite sure what that would entail, and if it's true, I
wonder why the sc> would work OK but the "console" would not?
Anyone seen this before? And found an answer?
a "mismatch" between firmware on the service processor and the rest of a
machine caused really weird/slow console behavior here. Was anything
flashed recently?
