Hi again,

probably a stupid question from my side, but after hours looking through
sunsolve and google results I still don't get any further.
How can I increase the size of my arp cache on Solaris 10u5? We have a
network here where close to 1800 machines ar flat on the same network
and it seems (from looking at arp -a | wc -l on several boxes) show that
it maxes out at around 1518.
I have found many articles on changing the time how long an entry is in
there, but drew a blank so far.
Is there a simple way to achieve this?
I've juggeled around a bit with the settings I can change via
ndd /dev/arp
but currently I'm just making pretty blind guesses and the best
documentation found so far is this:
http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/networking/dad-design.pdf
But at least with a longer cleanup_interval it seems already going up by
more than 150 additional entries and I think I need to get rid off the
probes (or limit them further)...
Does anyone know a nice reference where these arp configuration
parameters are explained in some detail?
arp_cleanup_interval
arp_publish_interval
arp_publish_count
arp_probe_delay
arp_probe_interval
arp_probe_count
arp_fastprobe_delay
arp_fastprobe_interval
arp_fastprobe_count
arp_defend_interval
arp_defend_rate
arp_broadcast_interval
arp_defend_period
Cheers and a Happy New Year
Carsten
