Hello,
I am trying to get the sgen driver to attach to disk, tape and changer
devices connected to a Solaris 10 system (uname -a: Generic_138888-06
sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Blade-100). However, I see only the changer
directory created under /dev/scsi. Could someone please shed light on
why tape drives or disks were not attached by sgen? The uncommented
lines in sgen.conf are:
device-type-config-list = "direct", "sequential", "changer";
name="sgen" class="scsi" target=0 lun=0;
Changer devices are usually on lun1.
The first thing I would try is add lun=1 to all the targets and see what
happens.

Since the changer is already detected, is there a need for me to add
lun=1? I am trying to get tape also detected by the sgen driver and
that does not seem to be happening.

Normally the tape drive is controlled by the st driver while the
changer robotics are controlled by the sgen driver.
AFAIK, you can't control tapes through sgen on Solaris.
man st
man sgen
