Hi,
In one of my opensolaris boxes zfs/auto-snapshot:frequent and
zfs/auto-snapshot:hourly went to maintenance state. As a consequence
time-slider is disabled. Issuing svcs -xv gave "no explanation" for
being in maintenance mode. In both of according svc log files are
entries reading "dataset is busy, no snapshots were created". I cannot
figure out what dataset could be busy and why it is busy all the
time. After a svcadm clear of both services and svcadm enable
time-slider the zfs/auto-snapshot:frequent is going into maintenance
state again after 15 min. Could somebody give suggestion what I have
to look for?
Thank you!
Andreas
Do you have alternate BE:s?
I frequently find that auto-snapshot fails for some of my inactive
BE:s and that mounting and unmounting the BE:s clears this up. My
theory is that there are some uncommitted transactions for some ZFS
object that will be flushed properly once the object is mounted and
unmounted.
I'm using Solaris Express so I'm using Live Upgrade to manage my
alternate BE:s.
I thought I had cured the problem when I realised that the user was not a memember of the zfs group.
