We are having problems on a Solaris 10 box where files are only
partially downloading. We have tried various file types and all hang
at approx. around 111KB. This issue is inconsistent and if we refresh
a page or the download it will eventually work.
Any troubleshooting ideas would be appreciated.

Then try again with relevant facts such as what medium are you using for
downloads! Tin cans and string? Dialup phone line and modem? T1
service? Broadband cable? Don't know? How much free disk space do you
have on the disk you are trying to store this download on? What
protocol are you using to do the download? FTP?

You are absolutely correct. I should have not rushed the question and
included all required information in the above post. My apologies.
More info:
Files types attempted: .zip, .mp3, .swf
Connection: T1
Free disk space: 40GB
Protocol: http
Mime types are correctly configured.
Solaris 10 with current patches

Is there some reason to use http rather than ftp? Since you posted to comp.unix.solaris we will assume that the O/S in use is Solaris.

Http is "HyperText Transmission Protocol". It was intended to feed web browsers.

Try:
ftp mumble.org
At the ftp prompt type "bin" for binary or "ascii" for text.
get superfrotz.c
bye

Some sites will ask you to log in using your name and address as username and ask you to use "visitor" as a password. The details of this interaction are controlled by the administrator of the system you are talking to and brief text messages may be used to give you a clue as to the login protocol.

The above may be obsolete now. I haven't actually done this for about five years.

If you get error messages please post the FULL and EXACT text.
